Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay was formed in the year 1958. It is an autonomous institution & a deemed university. The Institution is guided by the IIT Council. It is well-recognized as a leader in the field of engineering education. It has a 14 Academic Departments, 10 Centers, two Schools and three Interdisciplinary courses.

Area

The Institution campus is located at Powai, situated in the northern suburbs of Mumbai, in Western India. The campus area extends over 200 hectares. The Institution is connected by road & rail transportations.

Facilities

The Institution has a variety of facilities for its students & teachers. There are well-equipped computer classrooms, laboratories with state-of-the-art facilities, banks, shopping center, laboratories & workshops, gymnasium, hospital, hostels & staff quarters.

It has a central library with a huge collection of academic resources in the form of books, journals, research papers & electronic journals. The library also offers video viewing facilities. The facilities offered by the Institution are well-equipped, air-conditioned seminar rooms, conference halls and lecture theatres.

Admission Procedure

The admission to IIT, Bombay courses are done through various entrance examinations. For B.Tech course, aspirants have to appear in JEE Advanced Examination.

Aspirants, those want to get admission into M.Tech programme, they have to qualify Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE).

For design course, aspirants should apply & pass the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED).

The admission into M.Sc and M.Sc-Ph.D Dual Degree programmes are based on IIT JAM examination.
