Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi was founded through an Act of Parliament. The Institution was established as College of Engineering in the year 1961. It is an autonomous institution. The courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Area

The Institution is located at Hauz Khas in South Delhi. The campus extends to an area of 320 acres. The Institution campus has been divided into four zones, i.e. academic, residential for faculty & staff, residencies for students and cultural-cum-social & recreational zone. It is well-connected with the major city centers, railway station & airport.

Facilities

The Institution has an engineering laboratory, tutorial rooms, project rooms & classrooms. There are also large lecture theatres with modern services and equipment for sound & projection.

The campus also offers facilities such as the stadium, playing fields, bank, post office, staff club, shopping center, telecom center, hospital, community center, hostel etc.

There is a central recreation block with a swimming pool & gymnasium hall. The Institution offers services like seminar rooms, workshops, computer rooms, reading & indoor games.

It has a central library which includes a large collection of documents comprising of books/ebooks, journals, theses, compact discs, etc.

Admission Procedure

The admissions into all the above courses are based on a national level entrance test. Aspirants can get admission into B.Tech programme through JEE Advanced.

The admission into M.Tech courses is done on the basis of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). For M.Sc course admission, aspirants have to qualify IIT JAM (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc).

If aspirants want to apply for an MBA course, then they have to apply for Common Admission Test (CAT). Shortlisted aspirants are invited for WAT & interview round. The M.Des admission is based on Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED).

Training & Placement Cell

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi has a separate training & placement cell. It interacts with the management, industrial, & research organizations. The cell helps the aspirants to get employed during their pre-final year.

The Training and Placement unit conduct lectures for aspirants to increase their information with special talks. It also organizes workshops on various subjects like career counseling, modes of communication & interview techniques.
