JEE Main 2020 Exam Pattern – Released Officially

JEE Main examination is conducted two times in a year, i.e. JAN & APRIL session. It will give one more chance to the applicants to improve their scores in the examination.  It will be held on 6th January to 11th January 2020 (January session) & 3rd April to 9th April 2020 (April session). Below, we are providing JEE Main Exam Pattern 2020 details for B.Tech/BE & B.Arch/B.Planning courses.

For Paper 1 (B.Tech/BE):

  • Exam Mode: The examination will be organized through online mode (computer based test).
  • Medium: The medium of the question paper will be English, Hindi & Gujarati (Only for Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli).
  • Duration: The duration of the exam will be 3 hours (4 hours for applicants having 40% disability).
  • Session: The examination will be held in two sessions, i.e. 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM (1st Shift) & 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM (2nd Shift).
  • Subjects: The question paper will be comprised of Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry
  • Type of Questions: The questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) & Numerical
  • Number of Questions: In the examination, total 75 questions will be asked.
  • Total Marks: The question paper will be 300 marks.
  • Marking Scheme: For correct answer, 4 marks will be allotted to the applicants.
  • Negative Marking: For MCQs wrong answer, one mark will be deducted. There will be no negative marking for numerical value type questions.

For Paper 2 (B.Arch):

  • Exam Mode: The examination for B.Arch (Mathematics-Part I & Aptitude Test-Part II) will be held through online mode (Computer Based Test) and B.Arch (Drawing Test-Part III) through offline mode (Pen & Paper Based Test).
  • Medium: The exam medium will be English, Hindi & Gujarati (Only for Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli).
  • Duration: The exam duration will be 3 hours (4 hours for applicants having 40% disability).

  • Subjects: The question paper will be comprised of Mathematics (Part I), Aptitude Test (Part II) & Planned Based Questions (Part III).
  • Type of Questions: The questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Number of Questions: Total 100 questions will be asked in the examination.
  • Marking Scheme: For a correct answer, 4 marks will be allotted to the applicants.
  • Negative Marking: For a MCQs wrong answer, one mark will be deducted. There will be no negative marking for numerical value type questions.
